Michael J. Navarro, President of California based Navarro Retail Group., is a Retail Specialist with
over 22 years of experience co-developing retail
projects; representing landlords and most specifically, representing national
retailers throughout Southern California. He is recognized by his piers as one
of the leading Retail Brokers/Consultants in the region.
Michael started his brokerage career in 1985 at Grubb & Ellis in Newport
Beach. He quickly rose in the ranks and achieved Senior Vice President status.
Some of his achievements included: Rookie of the Year, Top Retail Broker in the
Nation and Co-founder of the Retail Tenant Services Group for Grubb & Ellis.
Grubb & Ellis of Newport Beach consistently ranked first or second in the
nation in terms of productivity and Michael led the office in the most transactions
completed. After 11 years, Michael started Radius Retail Advisors which he later
sold to Insignia/ESG, which was one of the nation’s largest brokerage companies
at the time.
Michael was the key broker who brought Best Buy to California and secured their
first 22 locations for the Company in the late 90’s. Today, Michael represents
Wal-Mart stores and Sam’s Club in various regions of Southern California. Michael
has completed over 15 transactions for Wal-Mart since founding his new company,
Navarro Retail Group in 2001. His responsibilities for Wal-Mart include site
identification, lease/purchase negotiations, entitlement procurement and overall
project management. This experience has enabled him to bring his tenant relationships
and entitlement experience to his preferred developer contacts and to jointly
develop new shopping centers. One of his current developments includes the new
One11Plaza in Rancho Mirage. This development is currently under construction
and will be home to Starbuck’s; Bing Crosby’s Restaurant, and many more specialty
shops and restaurants. The project is directly across the street from The River,
a 250,000sf entertainment center which Michael procured and leased.

theatre, Nordstrom’s and Border’s Books and Music.
